I was wondering how the adroid phones stack up against iphones for accessibility. I was looking at iphones, but they are a little out of my price range at the moment so wanting some info on android accessibility.
Thanks.
there are a lot of boards already on the zone that cover this... Rather than drag that debate right back up to the top in a new topic, i'd advise you read what has already been written.
there is a lot of good info already on the web sight, so there is no point in rehashing it.
Excellent thanks, will check those out.
I use both so here goes, voice overs gesters to read word by word, char by char and other items in the roter are easier to learn. Talkback's gesters are based off how a sighted person would use the screen, here is an example: "to in voke the global context menu" draw a line down and to the right. here you find repeat last utterence, spell last word, read from top read from current to end, suspend talkback and talkback settings. Mind you must be able to do a light gester down to the right to get to this menu. Voice over on the Iphone does not have this its gesters are not as complexed as android. I have both an Iphone and android tablit, a S3 that is sitting around for now. Both have their learning curves but android is a little steeper. If you want to know more about android ask me or check out that android show and contact Access Anna ook around for podcast on android. The blind geek zone is a good place for it as well, I put podcast there when I have time for android. Soemthing about a wife healing from a broken ancle and she likes my nexis7 sorta puts a damper on doing android podcast lol.
Oh, the iphone has more blindness related apps because its been around long for us then android but android is getting apps and games as time goes that we blind people can use. I found out that TapTapSee is making and android app this will really help those who have an android device. Same goes for prizmo, they are looking into porting the app over to android as well. Off I got but do take a look at saro tech's that android show and the blind geek zone.
last but not least before I go away here is access anna's email I got from the eyes-free list.: lot.of.yada@sbcglobal.net
Isn't BlindSquare also on Android? I thought I read that somewhere.
not sure about that app yet
